100 Book Challenge

Many parents came to the 100 Book Challenge meeting last month. We learned how to properly fill out the reading log and we're going to come back from spring break with a lot of motivation to complete our logs properly and work towards getting prizes. Remember every 15 minutes of reading counts for one step. Mentor readers need to ask questions about the story to make sure the students are really understanding what they're reading.

100th Day of School

What a fun day we had! Our whole day involved activities dealing with the 100th day of school. We read a poem that had 100 words, made beautiful necklaces where we needed to use 100 fruit loops and make patterns and read directions to make beautiful crowns.

Happy Spring!

Hello everyone. It's been too long. We all survived a long winter and spring has finally sprung! We'll be celebrating the 40th anniversary of Earth Day this year. So bring your work gloves! Our unit in Social Studies deals with how we impact on our Earth, which ties in so nicely with Earth Day.

We're about to start a new unit in reading called Amazing Animals. We'll look for opportunities to do more writing. I might have to write about my amazing dog, Gromit, who runs back and forth in the yard trying to chase Carpenter Bees. It doesn't seem like a very wise idea for me. What will he do when he catches one?
